About Me

I studied History at the universities of Exeter and York, and I am currently pursuing a PhD in early modern history at the University of Southampton. I am the author of four books, including Katherine Howard: Henry VIII's Slandered Queen (The History Press, 2019) and Lady Katherine Grey: A Dynastic Tragedy (The History Press, 2023) and am currently working on chapters for edited collections. I am an Associate Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. My research interests include medieval and early modern queenship; sixteenth- and seventeenth-century monarchy (especially the Tudors); late medieval and early modern royal and aristocratic women; early modern court culture; the Wars of the Roses; gender and sexuality; death studies (especially rituals, mourning and remembrance); executions/capital punishment; and early modern records. Additionally, I have written for many print and online publications about my research, including The Royal Studies Journal, BBC History Magazine, St Andrews Historical Journal (affiliated with the University of St Andrews History Society), The Historian (affiliated with the University of Exeter History Society), Tudor Life Magazine, Team Queens, Lady Jane Grey Reference Guide, The Creation of Anne Boleyn, On the Tudor Trail, Tudor Society, Wars of the Roses Catalogue, Medievalists and History of Royal Women, to name but some.
